Jennifer began the business about twenty-five years ago, grooming pets in the kitchen of her apartment. When she bought a house, she groomed out of the garage. Shortly after that she purchased the store at its present location on Stirling Road and turned it into a pet spa.
Word travelled further than anyone expected. The shop takes clients from as far north as Jacksonville and as far south as Key West — people who plan a drive around a grooming appointment, which is either flattering or slightly unhinged, depending on how you look at it.
Walk in today and you are greeted by the owner and by the canine management: Popcorn, Macarena, and Lucy the Maltese, who models the store’s clothes and hip hair styles and considers this her primary occupation.
There is a saying that one should never let his avocation become his vocation. Whoever came up with that never met Jenny, who turned a lifelong devotion to animals into what has quietly become one of the longest-running independent pet businesses in South Florida. She currently has six dogs. This is not a coincidence.
