La MaisonWho we are

It started ina kitchen.

Jennifer Uzcatequi groomed her first clients on the floor of her apartment kitchen. Then the garage. Then, one day, she bought the shop on Stirling Road and turned it into a spa — and people started driving in from Jacksonville and Key West to get to it.

Twenty-five years later the address hasn’t moved, and neither has the standard. Every coat is dried by hand. Every pair of ears is checked. Every dog leaves with a name and a note in the book, so the next visit starts where the last one left off.

Walk in and you’ll be greeted by the owner and, more importantly, by the canine management: Popcorn, Macarena and Lucy the Maltese, who model the boutique’s clothes and take their job seriously.

JennyUzcatequi

Master Groomer, certified by the National Dog Grooming Association of America. Her training covers what most people never think to ask a groomer about: canine nutrition, skin and coat health, behaviour management, and breeding.

Which is why she will sometimes tell you that the cut you want isn’t the cut your dog needs — and then explain exactly why, in plain English, before she picks anything up.

How long does a grooming appointment take?

A full groom at La Bone Pet Spa takes about three to four hours, depending on the size and condition of the coat. Baths and partial grooms usually take two to three hours. What vaccinations does my pet need before grooming?

Dogs groomed at La Bone Pet Spa must be current on DHPPC, Rabies and Bordetella, with a recent fecal exam. Cats must be current on Rabies, Feline Distemper and Feline Leukemia, with a recent fecal exam. Any pet found with fleas or ticks is treated at the owner’s expense.

Does La Bone Pet Spa groom cats?

Yes. La Bone Pet Spa grooms cats as well as dogs. A cat bath — warm bath, full dry, ear cleaning, nails and glands — starts at $70, and a Face, Feet & Fanny cat groom that adds a sanitary trim and tidied face starts at $80.
